Eisteddford Champion Joshua Arnold
During the Sydney Eisteddfod Joshua Arnold has competed in six sections that were held from May until August.
The prestigious Actor’s Championship is the principal award in Speech & Drama in Josh’s age group (12-14 Years) in which he placed 1st (improving on last year’s 3rd place).

His other results in Sydney were:
Shakespeare Monologue In Rehearsal Blacks (14 & Under) 2nd Place
Prose Speaking (13 Years) 2nd Place
Verse Speaking (13 Years) 1st Place
Character / Monologue (13 Years) 2nd Place
Public Speaking (13 Years) Highly Commended
In Sydney he has won the Verse Speaking section in all three years in which he has entered the competition in his age group.
Last week Josh travelled to Canberra for the Australian National Eisteddfod and competed in another 6 sections in his age group.
He won the poetry, prose, drama and public speaking sections and placed 2nd in the Bible Reading and Impromptu Reading sections – another pretty good day in the office.
Josh will be competing in the Goulburn Eisteddfod September 23/24; this competition is quite special to him as he has been a competitor there since Kindergarten.

Trinity Rugby Report - U14s Grand Final
U14 Trinity Team - Green Division Premiers
In a game worthy of a grand final, the Trinity U14 team were able to hold off a fast finishing Gunghalin Eagles team to win the Green Division grand final 10-5. Three penalties against Trinity after the final whistle meant the boys had to dig deep to be able to hold up the Premiers Trophy.
A man of the match performance from Seth Kennedy, match saving tackles from Charlie Booth, and the match winning try from Brendan O'Rourke, combined with some serious coaching from Mick Seaman and Billy 'The Kid' Barker were all crucial to the teams win.
In a true team performance, it is difficult to single out any players as standouts, however, Josh Clark saved his best for the last game of the season, Joey 'The Jet' Simmons scored the first try to get the boys rolling, Big Bad Bustling Benny Ishimwe had a great game,as did wingers Tush Mani and Levi Willoughby.
There is nothing like watching Matty Seaman inspire his team by taking a quick tap and boring it into the opposition forwards, 'stand off' Josh Evans led his backs by example; Simon Leach also had a Gordon Tallis type game - fearless in defence and attack.
Fittingly, the U15s coached by Damian Stanberg were also able to hold on to win their grand final.
Great games to finish the season - thanks to the many parents, friends and school teachers who attended to support both teams.

An urgent reminder for parents and third party contractors
Cyber Safety sessions are often structured around how you can help your child, and what a child should not be doing on social media. However, this is about you.
Sharing photos or video content filmed onsite at school or a school event on social media may cause serious privacy issues for other students.
Parents and third-party contractors are not authorised to use such images unless specific permissions are signed by the parents of each child appearing on that party’s social media accounts.
Allowing third parties to use images of children to promote their business on social media is rarely included in media release documentation provided to parents and signed each year (or in some cases only when first enrolled).
This is not the decision of the school to say it is ok unless parents have signed off on what is advertising using their child’s image. This may become a duty of care issue for a school.
In the eyes of the law, a school is considered a private place, and the Principal is regarded as the manager of that private place. When a media release document is signed, and in place, students, parents, and third-party contractors need the express permission of a Principal before publishing any photos taken onsite at the school, or just outside the school, in uniform, on excursions, etc. This includes posting on social media and why there is “no publish” lists in most schools.
Students also need to be continuously reminded that taking photos of their friends at school and posting them to Snapchat, Instagram, etc, is publishing without the consent and can cause issues from a duty of care perspective if the photo is taken wearing school uniform, onsite at the school, tagged into the school or on an excursion. Students often do not understand the importance of privacy as in many cases, they have never had it with everything since their first ultrasound photo published on social media by their parents.
We were recently made aware of a case where a child who was relocated with their family in a witness protection program was photographed at their new school by a parent during assembly and published on a community social media page. Custody issues, DV, etc, also need to be considered.
Most schools are fine with you taking photos up close of your child only, but please be aware that you do not know what is happening in the lives of the children in the background.
Goulburn & District Meals on Wheels are looking for volunteers to join their organisation in the delivery of meals to Goulburn's frail and aged, and people with disabilities in the local area.
They operate between the hours of 11.15am & 12.45pm, Monday to Friday. Each volunteer will have to fill in a Volunteer application and undergo a Police Check courtesy of Meals on Wheels.
If you have any questions or enquiries regarding this request you can call Sharon Grummer on 4821 0997 or 0411 895 323.

When your child needs to leave School early, please make sure they complete the following steps:
1. A written note signed from their parent/carer. This note can be made in the Student diary on the day of the planned absence, or on a separate piece of paper.
2. The student then takes the note to Homeroom and asks their Homeroom teachers to sign it.
3. The note must also be signed by a House Coordinator.
4. The student comes to the front office with their signed note.
5. Front office staff assist student to sign out.
6. Students wait for parent/carer to collect them.
Please note, parent or carer MUST present to the Office to collect student.
The College should be notified of any foreseen student leave. An Application for Exemption Form is available from the College Office and is required to be completed by parents/carers and returned to the College at least 10 school days prior to any leave. Leave or travel over 10 days requires a different form; please contact Reception. If, during the period of leave, your child has assessments due they should also complete the Notification of Planned Absence form which is in the appendix of their student assessment handbook.
Students should be wearing full Winter uniform including the wearing of their school blazer to and from school.
Students should return in full Summer Uniform on Tuesday 13 October - Term 4.
