Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful holiday (or change of routine) with your family and friends. The weather was amazing over Easter. One of the teachers reflected today that this is the first term since COVID started back in March 2020, where we have returned to school and it is almost normal without any big changes required of a school community. This is cause for celebration.
EASTER MESSAGE FROM THE ARCHBISHOP
In recent years it seems that our annual celebration of Easter accompanies some societal calamity. There has been bushfires, then the covid pandemic, and now the Russian-Ukraine conflict. This current war is particularly disturbing because it arises not from nature or health issues but from a violence within the heart of our shared humanity. War is the very opposite to the peace and joy of Easter. It is a defeat for humanity. It seems that the new humanity made present in the Easter Jesus has been cast aside. Offered light eternal, war opts for living in darkness. In our Easter Liturgy, a totally different humanity is announced. The Easter Vigil (Exsultet) proclamation chants “Christ your Son, who coming back from death’s domain, has shed his peaceful light on humanity, and lives and reigns for ever and ever.” Embracing Easter humanity in the Risen Jesus is clearly an unending task for every age, especially our present time. Jesuit priest, Fr Andriy Zelinskyy, Ukrainian military chaplain, describes the present war as “cruel, and is one of the most absurd, senseless wars in the history of Europe. There is no reason for the violence”. He calls for prayer as the way of “keeping hope alive that the war will come to an end and evil will never prevail.” Praying for hope in war has a practical dimension. As an Archdiocese, we are becoming deeper friends with our local Catholic Ukrainian priest, Fr Wally Kalinecki, and Russian Orthodox priest, Fr Alexander Morozow. I have assured both communities of our prayers and support in these fragile times. Ukrainian refugees are beginning to arrive in the Archdiocese. Many more will follow. I mentioned to Fr Kalinecki that our Archdiocese stands ready to provide whatever practical assistance deemed appropriate for these traumatised families. Fr Zelinskyy challenges us by stating: “Please wake up … we are stronger together….. we find ourselves at a time when the greatest gift we have is in danger, that is, our humanity….. come back to the gift of our humanity because it is something we need to treasure.” Easter humanity in Christ Crucified and Risen is not a sentimental religious pious thought. It is the very essence of our Christian humanity – mind, heart and deeds. As St Paul declares, when Christ is “your life – you too will be revealed in all your glory with him.” (Colossians 3/4) May the Easter Jesus bless and protect you always! He is truly Risen! Alleluia!
Archbishop Christopher Prowse, Catholic Archbishop of Canberra and Gouburn, Apostolic Administrator, Military Ordinariate of Australia, Easter 2022
ANZAC DAY
Thank you to the many Trinity students who turned out in numbers to represent the College at many ANZAC Day commemorations across the region earlier this week. Students gathered at Braidwood, Collector, Crookwell, Goulburn, Gunning, Tarago, Taralga and Yass. It is truly wonderful to see so many young people honouring the service and sacrifice of generations of Australians, and all those who suffer the consequences of war. Every day at home and at school, we must hold peace close to our hearts.
STAFFING UPDATE
Welcome to Mr Daneel Reily, a Music and Visual Arts teacher, and Mrs Raylene Neville, a Teacher Librarian, who will both be joining us this term in permanent teaching positions. We wish them a very happy association with Trinity. Welcome also to Mrs Morgan who will be relieving for Mrs Parsons whilst she is on leave this term. Mrs Keene continues with us this term as a permanent casual teacher.

Prayer of Remembrance
Heavenly Father, we remember with pride, gratitude and sympathy the men and women who have given their lives in defence of our country.
We remember with pride and gratitude that they fought and died that we might have security and peace that we might walk in freedom and live in justice.
We remember with pride, gratitude and sympathy the men and women who live in suffering and pain in our hospitals as a result of their generosity in protecting our country.
We remember with gratitude and sympathy the men and women whose spirits were crushed and minds deranged by the horrors and suffering through which they passed and saw others pass.
We remember with pride and gratitude the doctors and nurses who served our sick, wounded and exhausted servicemen and women.
We remember with gratitude the chaplains of our forces who brought comfort and consolation in time of sickness, injury, fear and death.
Be merciful and gracious to them all. We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen
Finally Three boys attended the NSW U18 Combined Catholic Colleges trials in Sydney earlier this week. Well done to Dylan Biles, Charlie Moroney and Will Barker. A very special congratulations to Will for being selected in the CCC team. Well done Will!
