Dear Parents and Carers, Students and Staff,
TRINITY SUNDAY LAST WEEKEND
Last Sunday a number of staff and students attended Mass at Our Lady of Fatima in North Goulburn to celebrate the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity. Trinity Sunday celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, our College’s name. It is from the Trinity that we derive our motto of Faith, Strength and Unity. Thank you to Arlene Dorsett for organising the student readers and thank you to Bernard Singh for organising the Trinity choir to sing at the Parish Mass. Thank you to Fr Joshy for celebrating the Mass. It was lovely to celebrate this important solemnity with the Parish.
In the parish bulletin last weekend, Fr Michael Tate’s reflection on the Trinity was included:
The Feast of the Trinity of God comes about because Jesus painted a picture of the most intimate of communion of Divine Life between Himself, the Father and the Holy Spirit. This is a relationship and yet the most perfect unity.
God is divine pulsating, shimmering light dancing in threefold exchange of love. In fact the best name for God is ‘Being-in-Love’. What does this mean for us?
How often have you heard: You are made in the image and likeness of God’? If God is threefold Being-In-Love, then you and I are made to live in relationship – not in solitary. We are totally on the wrong track if we think that the ultimate good is to be self-sufficient. It will turn out to be a Hellish choice. When we live as much self-giving as is possible, we are closest to Divine Life pulsating in a particular time and place through us.
Each time we bless ourselves, a bit of a Catholic routine, we are invoking the threefold exchange of love and calling its power into our life. Be careful, there will be a consequence! You could become more God-like!
We could pause for a moment. Slowly make the Sign of the Cross which recalls our baptism: “In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit’, and promise to image that Name in our lives.
We will celebrate our Trinity Feast Day on the last day of this term. There will be a prayer reflection, sporting activities and a concert in the afternoon. Charlotte Baragry will be having her hair cut to raise funds for CareFlight, the Australian Life-Saving Aeromedical Charity. This is a charity which is very important to Charlotte’s family. Charlotte is raising funds in memory of her brother, Max. Her goal is to reach $3500 with her ponytails donated to the Kids with Cancer organisation to make a wig for ‘Wigs 4 Kids’.
As is the tradition on the June long weekend, a number of past student groups gathered together to celebrate their time at Trinity, and St Patrick’s and Marian Colleges. Thank you to Mark Carroll, our Business Manager, who opened the College on the Saturday for past students to come and visit.
INFORMATION EVENINGS
We had a great attendance at our Year 11-2023 Subject Selection Information Evening last night. Various universities were represented and they were able to help many students with transition pathway information. Our Subject Coordinators and Course Subject Teachers were also available to provide advice about subject selection. Thank you to all involved and thank you to Ms Lauren Shinfield for providing the latest information about NESA requirements for Year 11 and Year 12. Year 10 students will be emailed their webcode to complete their preferred subject selections early next week. After selecting compulsory English and Religious Education courses, students must select their most preferred subject to least preferred subject. Subject Selection closes in the last week of this term on Wednesday 29 June 2022.
The Year 9-2023 Elective Information Evening was held on Tuesday with another great turnout. Again thank you to all our Subject Coordinators for attending this evening. Students have received an email about selecting their subjects. Elective subject choices for Year 9 are due by Friday 24 June 2022.
2023 ENROLMENTS
Our enrolment drive for 2023 has already begun. The official enrolment period for Catholic Schools in this Archdiocese concluded at the end of May. However, in regional areas we continue to take enrolments, so if you have a child entering Year 7 next year, please contact Reception for an enrolment form. An interview will be organised once the enrolment application is received. If your friends have a child commencing in Year 7 next year, please encourage them to consider Trinity as an option for their child’s education. There is provision for an online enrolment which can be accessed through our website at the following address: https://www.trinitycollege.nsw.edu.au/enrol-online/
Happy weekend and best wishes to all our sporting teams!
Yours in faith, strength and unity

TCCG STRATEGIC GOALS 2022
- To improve student learning through building teacher capacity, using data to inform classroom teaching and learning, and strengthening leadership in learning.
- To improve wellbeing (staff and students).
- To be an explicitly Catholic community welcoming to all.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen
The way that we think and feel about our body and appearance is called ‘body image’. Many of us will have experienced negative body image and the feelings that come with it at some point in our lives – we may even be feeling it now. From low self-esteem to significant impacts on mental and physical health, body image is an important issue for all ages. For young people in particular, body image is important as they are going through body changes and development, the pressures of social media, and are learning about who they are physically, socially, and emotionally. As a community, we can work together to develop healthy body images for ourselves and our young people.
The importance of a healthy body image for young people (and the whole family)
Our body image can change day-to-day; there may be times when we feel positively about our body, and others where we feel negatively. Body image includes how we feel about our shape, size, weight, gender identity, and the way our body functions for us. However we feel, body image is important because it impacts mental health, wellbeing and self-worth.
Young people are easily impacted by the media, and attitudes about what bodies should look like. Having a negative body image can lead to serious mental health concerns, and in some cases, eating and body image disorders.
Having healthy body image can:
- Prevent against eating disorders
- Improve mental health and wellbeing
- Improve self-esteem and self-worth
- Help focus on health and not just image and/or weight
- Empower young people to see beyond appearances
Ways to help your young person develop a healthy body image
We know that negative body image is common in young people, who are easily influenced and vulnerable within their changing bodies. The positive side is that because we know this, as adults we can influence them to see themselves positively, and educate them to think differently, supporting themselves and others to nurture a healthy body image.
Here are some ways we can help develop healthy body image:
- Encourage healthy habits such as regular exercise and a balanced diet. The healthier we feel, the healthier our body image becomes. However – be careful of young people becoming fixated on this. Allow treats occasionally and plenty of rest days – these are just as important! The key is to have balance.
- Positive role-modelling. Be mindful of how you talk about your own body, for your sake and for your young person. Avoid making negative comments about your body – instead practice gratitude and positivity. This will not only teach your young person about how to love and embrace their body but will have a positive impact on you too.
- Be mindful of media and teach young people about unrealistic beauty standards. Contrary to what we see in the media, all bodies are not meant to look the same. Having conversations about what we see in the media versus reality is really important for young people, who may not always realise that what they are seeing is not realistic and can be damaging. Dove has an inclusive and diverse beauty campaign that highlight this issue – check it out with your young person. https://www.dove.com/us/en/stories/campaigns/showus.html
- Do not always emphasise looks/appearance. We are so much more than what we look like. Compliment humour, effort, intelligence, attitude, kindness, bravery, strength, and other parts of what make your young person wonderful and unique.

Sacramental Retreats
This term, the Trinity Youth Ministry Team have been preparing for, and running, the First Holy Communion Reflection Days for the Sacramental candidates in the Goulburn Mission. Around twenty team members ran three separate retreats at St Mary’s, Ss Peter & Paul and St Joseph’s primary schools.
Supporting Gerard Teng, our resident Youth Minister, Trinity students led games, small group interactive and reflective activities, performed dramas and charades, and conducted themselves respectfully and with reverence as representatives of our College. We received positive feedback and many thanks from both students and staff at each school we visited.
As a team, we debriefed after each retreat, and every team member was able to articulate at least one thing they took away from the experience, as well as reflect on some personal strengths and areas for growth. Many of them learned as much from the younger students as the younglings would have learned from them. They each showed leadership in one way or another; some quietly in their small groups, others front and centre.
Every member of our Youth Ministry is at a different stage of their faith journey, yet we have commonalities such as being open to exploring our faith, wanting to live out our school values and being of service to others.
Youth Ministry realises Trinity’s school motto; that through sharing our Faith, we build personal and group Strength as we work in Unity towards a better way of being the people God has called us to be.
Oceania Evangelisation Leaders Program
Two of our senior Youth Ministry team members were also able to participate in the Oceania Evangelisation Leaders Program in Canberra last weekend. Estella and Kiesha conducted themselves with dignity and grace throughout the two days which were jam-packed with information sessions, music, personal testimonies, masses and plenty of food. They remained open to new and different experiences of praise, worship and faith formation, and met people from all walks of life, who have come to know Jesus personally in various ways and at various times. The sessions were streamed to hubs from all over Oceania, including Fiji, Samoa, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. As part of the Youth Ministry, they may have the chance to visit other communities either in Australia or overseas and participate in missions, or possibly even travel to Portugal for World Youth Day in 2023!
Open Invitation
There is a standing open invitation to all students of Trinity to join the Youth Ministry team in striving to make Jesus real in our school community and driving social justice initiatives to better our world. Come along to Leahy 6 on Wednesday lunchtimes.
Trinity Sunday
Last Sunday was the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity. We had a number of students who were involved in parts of the mass. Thank you to Joseph Cilia for altar serving; our readers, Josh Arnold and Hannah Wehbe; Jade Wehbe, and Ms Shinfield for bringing the Offertory; Mr Singh and his musicians of Sophie Harding, Chanel Allwright, Anbarasan Mitchell and Patrick Matthews, and Gerard for being tech support. We also had a number of other staff and students who fulfilled the important role of being part of the congregation. Many thanks for your support, whether you are a regular or made the effort especially for our school’s Feast Day.
It was a lovely start to a new tradition of monthly Youth and Family masses led by students in our parish schools.
The next Youth & Family Mass will be led by St Peter & Paul’s on Sunday 3rd July at 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Church. All staff, students and families are warmly invited to attend. A reminder will go out closer to the date.
On the long weekend, nine students from Trinity represented Goulburn in the NSW Netball State Titles. This was a three day tournament held at Camden with 18 games played by each team in total.
Students who played were:
Chloe Regterschot – Opens
Skye Muller – U17s
Jasmine Quattromani – U17s
Jessica Webb – U17s
Teagan Crooks – U15s
Samantha Marks – U15s
Phoebe Matthews – U15s

ST VINCENT DE PAUL WINTER APPEAL 2022
It's that time of year again when the weather turns, and we need to consider our brothers and sisters in the community who are without enough warmth for the winter.
Trinity Catholic College will be commencing the Vinnie's Winter Appeal in Week 9 and we are seeking donations of:
- blankets
- towels
- bed sheets (single and double sizes)
to help the Goulburn Conference of St Vincent de Paul to supply families in need. While this initiative will run into Weeks 2-3 of Term 3, we encourage as many donations in Weeks 9 and 10 this term as possible so we can provide warmth during the two week school break which will be in the heart of winter.
The Catholic Social Teachings of Dignity of the Human Person, Preferential Option for the Poor and Solidarity come to the fore with this social justice initiative to give what we can, that we may help others in our community and allow them to live with dignity.
Mathematics Help is held in the Library on the following days:
- Tuesday (Year 11 and 12) 8am-8.55am
- Friday (Years 7-12) 8am-8.55am
INAUGURAL ENVIRONMENT MONTH DINNER
Year 11 Students Lily T and Shahmeen M will represent the College at the Inaugural World Environment Month Dinner next week (20 June 2022). The event is hosted by Soroptimist International of Goulburn, and will feature the Voices of Youth from Trinity, as well as the other local high schools on the theme of Conserve, Preserve, Recycle, Renew - A Local Context. If you would like to attend the event, please follow this link for ticket information: https://www.trybooking.com/CAFBF
We need your help!
CUC are looking to build a program that builds aspirations of young people in our local area to access university and further education. We are looking for three students and their families to represent Trinity in 1-2 consultation/community engagement events to investigate the challenges local students face in pursuing higher education. You can be a younger student with your family who thinks they might like to go but don't know how you would because accommodation or fees make it hard, you can be an older student and family who is in senior years looking at applications and where to apply to or thinking it's too difficult to aspire to because of a range of reasons. We want to hear from you!
When would these events happen? Week 3 of Term 3.
If you are interested or would like to contribute to this consultation/community engagement event, please email naomi.gill@cg.catholic.edu.au
