Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to everyone. Term 4 is always a wonderful term and I look forward to the joys and challenges it will bring!
YEAR 12 GRADUATION
The Year 12 Graduation Mass, Assembly and Dinner were all amazing events. It was very special to attend the Mass and Assembly in Our Lady of Fatima. Our school choir, lead by Ms Charlotte Locke, Mr Daneel Reily and Mr Bernard Singh, was awesome and they sang like angels. Special thanks to Mrs Katie Suro who coordinated the Assembly and Dinner ably supported by Mrs Renee Funnell. Mrs Suro is completely dedicated to our Year 12 students and works very hard to ensure the ongoing care of each student with a relentless focus on their learning and wellbeing. Thank you to Mrs Arlene Dorsett who organised the Valete Mass and Fr Joshy who celebrated the Mass for us. A special treat was the performance of Thomas Skeffington Senior and Thomas Skeffington Junior playing the guitar and violin together. It was a very happy day.
COVID UPDATE
After ten school terms, I no longer need to provide a COVID update to the community. So the update is, no more updates! Hallelujah!
HSC EXAMINATIONS UPDATE
Recently NSW Health announced changes to COVID-19 isolation, in place from 14 October.
We want to reassure parents HSC students that NESA’s existing illness/misadventure process will remain in place throughout the entire 2022 HSC Written exam period.
If a student is unwell and has any COVID-19 symptoms, they should always test for COVID-19.
If a student has tested negative for COVID-19 and is too unwell to attend an exam, they must seek independent medical advice on the day of the exam.
Telehealth services should be used if unable to attend a doctors’ surgery. Students are required to provide a doctor’s certificate covering the exam date(s).
If a student has tested positive for COVID-19 and is isolating for up to 7 days, they must provide the notification/registration of COVID-19 positive results (from either a PCR or RAT). This must cover the exam date(s) and show:
- student’s first and last name
- date and time the notification was received or registration of when RAT was submitted
We want to provide assurances to HSC students that their health remains a priority during this time, and processes are in place if they are unwell during the exam period.
STAFF FAITH FORMATION DAY
Earlier in the week, staff gathered for our annual faith formation day. Our faciiltator was Dr Caroline Thompson from Mercy Partners based in Brisbane. The day was based upon 2 Corinthians 3: 2-3..."You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts." Teaching is more than a job; it is a vocation. The day was an opportunity to be still and reflect on 'the tablets of human hearts', that is, our students and their families.
STAFFING UPDATE
Welcome to Mr Jeremy McMahon who has been appointed to a permanent Mathematics teacher position replacing Mrs Ingrid Parsons who retired at the end of last term. I am delighted Mr McMahon will be teaching in our community, and wish him every success and happiness in his association and friendship with Trinity Catholic College Goulburn.
Welcome back to Mr Mark Carroll and Mr Colin Groves who have both been on extended leave.
Congratulations to Mrs Stephanie Wise who has been appointed Acting HSIE Coordinator whilst Mrs Kathy Peterson (Parlett) is on parental leave.

COLLEGE UNIFORM
This term we change back to the summer uniform and it is important every student wears the correct uniform with pride from the beginning of term. How well a student wears the College uniform says much about the College and what it values. A school uniform worn well speaks loudly of school pride, of being one community and creates a strong sense of belonging. A school uniform policy teaches students to dress smartly and take pride in their appearance. It is important students wear the correct uniform and that parents support their children and the College in this endeavor. Year Coordinators will be following up uniform matters with students and supporting them in every way they can to ensure the correct uniform is worn by all students. Thank you to all parents for supporting the College in ensuring students wear the correct uniform. If students are wearing incorrect uniform items, they must provide a written note from their parent/carer addressed to their homeroom teacher.
COLLEGE HATS
Our new House Hats have arrived and will be available very soon. More information will be provided next week about how the new hats can be purchased. All students must have a new hat by Friday 28 October 2022.
2023 PLANNING
A request to any 7-11 families moving from Trinity Catholic College at the end of this year, it would greatly assist our preparation for 2022 if you would send an email to Renee Funnell, renee.funnell@cg.catholic.edu.au, as soon as possible indicating your intentions along with your destination. Please request from Renee an "Exit Form" which must be completed by parents. Much of this term is spent preparing for next year and our student numbers need to be accurate. Thank you for assisting us with this information gathering.
TERM 4 SCHOOL FEE PAYMENTS
Term 4 fee accounts will be forwarded to you soon. It would be very much appreciated if payment could be made by the due date. We are coming to the end of the year and prompt payment is appreciated. Thank you.
Please keep our Year 12 students in your thoughts and prayers as they commenced their HSC Examinations yesterday.
Enjoy the weekend with your family. Keep safe and stay well.
Yours in faith, strength and unity
Gaye McManus
Principal
Shine like lights in the world as you hold on to the word of life.
~Philippians 2:15~
An enormous thank you is due to all students and staff who generously donated funds, blankets, towels and bedsheets towards the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal this year. Over 80 items were given to the appeal throughout last term to this term and they will go a long way to supporting Vinnies continue their good works in our community.
Our Pyjama Day alone raised over $800, which was given directly to the Goulburn Conference to help local families in need at this time.
Wendy Wise, president of the Goulburn Conference has written to express her gratitude on behalf of St Vinnies for Trinity's continued support in their work.
It is not merely for the sake of charity that we encourage and support organisations such as this, but for awareness of and action towards social justice. Catholic Social Teachings describe real-world ways of living out the gospel values that our school endeavours to uphold. When we strive to provide equity and compassion in our local community, we ensure opportunities for others to maintain their livelihood and dignity.
Jesus gave us The Golden Rule: "In everything do to others as you would have them do to you." (Matthew 7:12), but this 'rule' is not exclusive to Christians. It is echoed throughout countless religions and cultures that the right thing to do is treat people the same way you wish to be treated. Let us consider this each time we think, speak or act unkindly towards another person: how would being the recipient of such behaviour make us feel? Then hopefully, with some reflection, we would choose to be more merciful, forgiving and compassionate, thereby making Jesus real in our lives as we emulate his example.
Yours in faith
Arlene Dorsett
Mission and Ministry Coordinator

Sasha recently competed in the Marcus Oldman Inter-school National Championships representing NSW over the holidays. Sasha was very successful getting third in her 1.0m class on day 2 of show jumping and then getting 6th overall in her 1.0m class for the event. This was a great achievement in which Sasha has worked very hard to get to this level. Congratulations on your achievements Sasha!
