WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL - MONDAY 1 JUNE 2020
We look forward to welcoming all students back to the College full-time from Monday 1 June.
Dear Parents and Carers
It is with great excitement and joy we welcome every student back to the College from next Monday 1 June 2020. It has seemed like years since we were all together. It has certainly been a challenging time for all, and we are particularly proud of our students who continued their learning from home during a difficult time for every student across the world. Thank you to parents and carers who have supported their children on the remote learning journey. I can only imagine it was not easy but you did it! I am particularly proud of the staff here at Trinity who adjusted rapidly to an online learning environment and, then changed just as quickly back to a face to face model. Resilient, flexible and adaptable students, parents, teachers and support staff. What more could you want in a learning community!
RECONCILIATION WEEK
This week marks Reconciliation Week celebrating two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey; the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision. The week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements and to explore how each of us can join the national reconciliation effort. The 2020 National Reconciliation Week theme is: IN THIS TOGETHER. The theme was chosen last year and is now resonating in ways that could not have been foreseen when announced last year, but it reminds us whether in a crisis or in reconciliation we are all #InThisTogether. At the heart of any reconciliation is ensuring relationships being founded in truth.
Whilst we cannot gather as a school community to recognise Reconciliation Week, we have been placing gum leaves and branches around our flagpoles in MET Quad. Thank you to Mrs Bev McGreevey and our Midgee students for their coordination and preparation of our prayers in homeroom each morning this week. They have been just beautiful. Please find below today's prayer written by one of our Year 7 students:
Ngatanwarr!
This is Sorry Week and today I’d like to acknowledge the Gunditjmara People,
my people, especially my Grandpa, Mr Denis Rose.
Dear Jesus, We at Trinity would like to say sorry for all of the things
that have happened to the Indigenous peoples of Australia in the past.
Jesus, we want to especially say sorry about the sufferings
of the Stolen Generations.
Thank You God, for the gift of the Gunditjmara People,
and their language and culture.
Amen.
Maea Rose, proud Gunditjmara Trinity student
REMOTE LEARNING
Please note remote learning ceases from Monday 1 June 2020 for all students. From Monday 1 June 2020, we will recommence face-to-face teaching in all year levels.
STUDENT ATTENDANCE
From Monday 1 June (NSW) as students move back to full-time attendance, the expectation is that students are either:
- at school engaged in face-to-face learning;
- at home because they are unwell;
- at home because they have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to school due to an ongoing medical condition.
If a student is absent for more than three days without a medical certificate, this will be followed up by the Year Coordinators in line with our normal practice. We will support families in every way we possibly can to ensure students re-engage at school as appropriate. Please do not hesitate to contact us at school if further discussion is required.
STUDENTS WHO ARE UNWELL OR PREVENTED FROM ATTENDING SCHOOL DUE TO HEALTH CONCERNS
Please note the following:
- If students are away from school on a short-term basis because they are sick, there is no expectation that they complete schoolwork.
- In cases of long-term illness where the student is prevented from returning to school, parents or carers should provide a medical certificate.
- The same approach should be followed for students who have a condition which means it is not safe for them to return to school e.g. they have a suppressed immune system, or they are undergoing treatment such as chemotherapy. Please know the school will with parents/carers to determine how to best meet the student’s needs in these circumstances.
- Students who are residing with a family member in one of the categories identified as being at increased risk of COVID-19 should attend school unless a medical practitioner advises otherwise. The parent or carer must provide written confirmation from the treating health professional that the student is unable to attend school.
SMS STUDENT ABSENCE ALERT
The SMS student absence alert system will be turned back on from next Monday 1 June 2020.

2. The student then takes the note to Homeroom and asks their Homeroom teachers to sign it.
