Dear Parents and Carers
YEAR 7-2021 ORIENTATION DAY
Finally, we were able to welcome our incoming Year 7 2021 students to Trinity last week. We had a lovely time; they are such a peaceful and calm group with lots of happy, smiling faces. The day had to be COVID-safe so parents were dropping off and collecting their children at the Addison Street Bus Stop. St Joseph’s, and St Peter and Paul’s, students were bussed in. Parents were not able to attend but we did have a ZOOM meeting with them a few weeks ago. We were not able to have our Year 11 students involved but the College Student Leadership team welcomed our new students via video. Rather than the sorting hat this year, via video, the House Captains and SRC Leaders announced our new students’ names and which House was theirs for the next six years. It was different style of Orientation to previous years but it was very exciting in a new and refreshing way. We have a great team at Trinity and my thanks to Mrs Aly Dunwoodie, Mrs Kristie Miners, Mr Chris Arnold, Mr Paul Treloar, Mr John Galiazzo, Mrs Jasmine Wareham, Ms Jen Robinson, Mrs Shelley O’Brien Ms Lauren Shinfield, Mr Mark Carroll and Mrs Suro. Thank you to Jason and Donna for their excellent work in maintenance support. Events such as this cannot occur without the commitment of our staff. We love what we do and we love doing it together. COVID did not stop us from having the best time! We are looking forward to welcoming our new students to Trinity in 2021.
VIVO REWARDS
From our Facebook page, you can see we have been holding pool parties for those students who have received 300 vivo points. Vivos are awarded to students who are ‘caught’ doing the right thing. We are focusing on catching those positive behaviors where there is respect, responsibility and learning shown along with catching those moments of true Trinity spirit. It has been enormous fun. Our House Captains have been magnificent in organising these activities. Special thanks to Ms Shinfield for making it happen ably supported by many staff members. Again, everything is a team effort.
YEAR 7-11 REPORTS
Before the end of term, you will receive your child’s report. Please sit with them and talk through the challenges and joys in their learning during 2021. Our students have worked under extraordinary pressure this year due to COVID, and I thank them for their commitment to their studies. They had to adjust to remote learning, which was a challenge for many. It has not been the easiest of years but everyone has got through it. This must be acknowledged and applauded. Congratulations to all our students on their achievements and the progress they have made.
YEARS 7-11 END OF YEAR AWARDS PRESENTATION
The end of year Awards Presentation Ceremony will be held next Monday 14 December 2020 commencing at 9.30am. Unfortunately we will not be able to invite parents onto campus due to COVID restrictions. Whilst we have returned to face-to-face College Assemblies, we cannot fit in parents as well due to COVID physical distance restrictions. If parents would like to register to attend via ZOOM, please complete the link below. The ZOOM link will be emailed to you on Friday 11 December.
Some words to reflect upon in this Advent Season as said by a five year old who was being tucked into bed by their mother one night recently:
“Mum, love is just not something you feel, it’s something you do.
This whole earth is one big ball of family and if we all love each other
and look after each other with love, the world will be like new.”
As this is the last Trinity Talk for the year, thank you to every magnificent family for their support over 2020. It has been an extraordinary year for students, staff and parents. It has not been an easy road but with courage and determination, we did get through it together. We have a really kind and caring community who watches out for each other. Go gently into this holiday break; it is so well deserved.
May you and your families have a happy and Holy Christmas in this year of Our Lord, 2020 and may the peace of the Infant Child truly be with you every day.
Keep safe and stay well. Enjoy the season of Christmas and New Year. Happy holidays!
May God bless you and your family
Gaye McManus
Principal
A CHRISTMAS BLESSING
May there be harmony in all your relationships. May sharp words, envious thoughts,
and hostile feelings be dissolved.
May you give love and receive generously.
May this love echo in your heart like joy of church bells on a warm December day.
May each person who comes into your life be greeted as another Christ.
May the honour given the babe of Bethlehem be that which you extend to
every guest who enters your presence.
May the hope of this
sacred season settle in your soul.
May it be a foundation for courage for you when times of distress occupy your inner land. May the wonder and awe that fills the eyes of children be awakened within you.
May it lead you to renewed awareness and appreciation of whatever you too easily
take for granted.
May you go often to the Bethlehem of your heart and visit the One who offers peace.
May you bring this peace into our world.
Amen

A quote from Pope Francis
‘In switching on the light of the Nativity scene we wish for the light of Christ to be in us, a Christmas without light is not Christmas, let there be light in the soul, in the heart; let there be forgiveness to others; let there be no hostilities, which are dark, let there be the beautiful light of Jesus. This is my wish for you all when you turn on the light of the crib’.
