TRINITY GIRLS' RUGBY "CONFIDENCE INTO CONTACT" PROGRAM
After COVID put a hold on Trinity’s Rugby in 2020, we have commenced planning for the 2021 season in earnest.
Today, 27 girls began a three week ‘confidence into contact’ program with the ACT Brumbies development team. The program continues over the next two Friday afternoons and is still open to interested players who wish to be involved.
The core group of Trinity’s under 16 girls team from 2019 were involved and helped show the new players the ropes. The training sessions are based around Rugby Australia’s Smart Rugby Program which educates the girls in safe technique around the contact areas of the game including in the tackle and rucks reducing the likelihood of injury.
Although there is no commitment to play the game, the aim is to enter Trinity girls Rugby teams into the ACTJRU in 2021. The competition offers a 10 a-side format in the under 14, 16 and 18 age groups running parallel to the boys 15 a-side competitions.
Any interested girls are encouraged to collect a permission form from the office and return it by next Friday 11 December 2020 to be a part in the fun.
We are looking at offering the same opportunity to the boys rugby teams in early 2021.
Keep an eye open for some more exciting news about Trinity Rugby’s plans for 2021 coming soon!
