Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to you all! I hope you had a wonderful holiday (or change of routine) with your family and friends. The autumnal weather was amazing but winter is coming.
EASTER SEASON
I love the Easter ceremonies. In our Parish Bulletin a few years ago, Gerald Manly Hopkins was quoted:
Easter Sunday shatters many things!
Gone is darkness and death!
Gone is hopelessness and despair!
Gone is fear and dread!
Gone our Lenten fast and discipline!
And from all that “gone-ness” and shattering,
NEW LIFE bursts forth, filling the void with light, joy, feasting, celebration
and the singing of Alleluias!
Let Him Easter in us, be a dayspring to the dimness of us.
‘Christians are Easter people. What that means is that we are dynamic: always growing, changing, moving and engaging. Even those of us who cannot be ‘in motion’ physically – because of necessary employment, family responsibilities or health issues – can experience the interior ‘movements’ of the soul. Every day the Risen Christ invites us to move, to allow the breaking open that happens in a heart that is open to God and to all that divine love brings to us. We sense the inner movement, we listen to the voice of the Spirit, we pay attention to even fleeting emotions and responses that can be, in God’s hands, tools for our ongoing creation.’ (Vinita Hampton Wright, from her blog ‘Days of Deepening Friendship’). A happy Easter season to all.
STAFFING UPDATE
Welcome to Grace Marshall, a Classroom Support Assistant, and Mr Paul Zuchetto, a temporary full-time casual relief teacher. Both are ex-Trinity students. We wish them a very happy continued association with Trinity. We have been able to employ an extra classroom support assistant as Trinity has received extra funding to further support students experiencing difficulty with reading.
Welcome as well to Mrs Helen Morgan who is relieving in Mrs Ingrid Parson's position whilst she is taking some well deserved leave.
Welcome back to Mrs Jess Antony who has been on maternity leave. Mrs Antony returns to her PDHPE Coordinator role.
Unfortunately Mrs Wareham is unable to return to work this term. Mr Luke Sampson will take over Mrs Wareham’s classes and the Sport Coordinator role. The 12PDHPE class will have Mrs Sheekey as their teacher until the end of the year.
Welcome back to Mr Bernard Singh who has been caring for his family in New Zealand over the last six months.
UNWELL STUDENTS
There has been a change to how unwell students will be managed at school. Students can return to school without a medical clearance if they are symptom free. If students are displaying symptoms and have a COVID test, the school still must sight a negative test result where there has been a test.
ANZAC DAY
Goulburn's ANZAC Day commemorations will go ahead next Sunday under COVID-19 restrictions with both the dawn and mid-morning services being held in Belmore Park. The march along Auburn Street will go ahead but will only be for veterans with about 60 veterans from the various campaigns participating. The College will recognise ANZAC Day prior to the start of our Athletics Carnival tomorrow and there will be an ANZAC ceremony at 1.25pm on Wexted Oval this Saturday 23 April prior to the Under 16s Boys Rugby game which will kick-off at 1.35pm.
REMINDERS
Parents of Year 7 and 9 students should have received a letter last term regarding NAPLAN tests to be held during Week 4 of this term commencing on Tuesday 11 May 2021. Catch up tests will continue into Week 5. If you wish your child to be exempted or withdrawn from the assessments, please contact Mrs Shelley O’Brien, Diverse Learning Coordinator at the College via phone on 4821 3600 or email at shelly.obrien@cg.catholic.edu.au .
The College Athletics Carnival will be held tomorrow Friday 23 April 2021 at Hudson Park. Students must bring their own recess and lunch as there will be no food available to purchase.
Parent Teacher Interviews which were postponed last term will be held next Thursday 29 April 2021 (Week 2) in the Great Hall. Interview bookings can be made through the parent portal on the College website. Bookings will close next Monday 26 April 2021 at 3.30pm. If you require further assistance with the bookings, please do not hesitate in contacting Kristie Miners on 4821 3600.
2022 ENROLMENTS
Our enrolment drive for 2022 has already begun. The official enrolment period for Catholic Schools in this Archdiocese runs from Monday 3 May until Friday 28 May. If you have a child entering Year 7 next year, please contact Reception for an enrolment form. An interview will be organised once the enrolment application is received. If your friends have a child commencing in Year 7 next year, please encourage them to consider Trinity as an option for their child’s education. There is provision for an online enrolment which can be accessed through our website at the following address: https://www.trinitycollege.nsw.edu.au/enrol-online/
If you are looking for something to do this Saturday, come up and support our Rugby teams on Wexted and Oval 2. Trial games have been organised with Canberra Grammar School. The first game begins at 10am.
Happy weekend!
Yours in faith, strength and unity

This month on SchoolTV - Raising Girls
Raising girls in today’s modern world can be a difficult path for parents and carers to navigate. These days, girls are transitioning to puberty a lot earlier than they used to and the physical, psychological and emotional changes they experience are challenging. As a result, by mid-adolescence, girls are twice as likely to develop mood disorders more so than boys.
Some parents and carers may feel uncertain about how best to support their daughter through the ups and downs of adolescence and how to keep the lines of communication open. With the rise of social media and technology, mental health difficulties in girls are increasing as often they are faced with online images that make it difficult to see themselves as acceptable. Ensuring a daughter’s opinions are heard and her views listened to, will go a long way towards making her feel loved and supported as she tries to establish her own identity.
In this edition of SchoolTV, adult carers will attain a clearer picture of what girls are wanting from their adult carers and how best to support them through adolescence. We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this month’s edition, and we always welcome your feedback.
If you do have any concerns about the wellbeing of your child, please contact the school for further information or seek medical or professional help.

If students are displaying flu-like symptoms at school, parents will be required to collect their child from school and have a COVID test. If students are unwell, they must remain at home. Please continue to inform the school via phone if your child tests positive for COVID.

The College should be notified of any foreseen student leave. Leave or travel over 10 days requires a different form; please contact Reception. If, during the period of leave, your child has assessments due they should also complete the Notification of Planned Absence form which is in the appendix of their student assessment handbook.
When your child needs to leave School early, please make sure they complete the following steps:
1. A written note signed from their parent/carer. This note can be made in the Student diary on the day of the planned absence, or on a separate piece of paper.
2. The student then takes the note to Homeroom and asks their Homeroom teachers to sign it.
3. The note must also be signed by a House Coordinator.
