Dear Parents and Carers, Students and Staff,
STUDENT LEADERSHIP 2022
Some Year 11 students are currently participating in a process to determine the student leadership team for 2022. Applicants for College Student Leadership positions must comply with all College expectations and procedures. The following process determines the student leaders:
- completion of a signed nomination form addressing particular selection criteria
- presentation of a speech at our College Assembly
- voting by Years 7-12 students and staff at Trinity Catholic College
- attendance at a panel interview with the College Executive Leadership Team
Student leader positions will be decided by the panel taking into consideration the nomination, speech, voting, interview and suitability based on the selection criteria. Our next College Assembly is Friday 25 June 2021, starting at 9.30am, with student leadership speeches commencing at 10.00am. Interviews will not take place until next term. Parents are most welcome to attend.

Mrs Linda Polosak has been appointed to the Teacher Librarian position until the end of this year. Next term, we also welcome back Mrs Ingrid Parsons and Ms Cody Poole from leave.
WINTER CONCERT

Music warms and uplifts the soul. Thank you to Ms Lock, Mr Schipp and Ms Cummins for coordinating the Winter Concert.
STAFF PROFESSIONAL LEARNING TERM 3

Students return on Tuesday 13 July 2021.
ENROLLING YOUR CHILD AT TRINITY
A College uniform and how students wear it says much about what a school may value. When a family completes an application for enrolment of their child at Trinity Catholic College, it means they are choosing a Catholic education for their child. It requires a commitment to support the philosophy, values and aims of Trinity and a willingness to cooperate in their implementation. Specifically it means:
- Religious Education is a core subject including participation in prayer and liturgy
- Catholic values are emphasised with all faith and non-faith traditions being respected
- Academic excellence and the acquisition of knowledge, understanding and skills are promoted within a Catholic framework.
The students are expected to adhere to Trinity Catholic College’s standards for:
- behaviour, dress and self-discipline
- application to learning and study
- participation in school activities
Parent cooperation is essential to assist their child attain these goals. Parents are expected to participate in the total life of the school including parent/teacher nights, school and parish liturgies, activities of the Community Council as well as participating in their child’s sporting life at the College. We look forward to seeing you at the College soon!
2022 ENROLMENTS
Our enrolment drive for 2022 continues. The official enrolment period for Catholic Schools in this Archdiocese has concluded however, in regional areas we continue to take enrolments, so if you have a child entering Year 7 next year, please contact Reception for an enrolment form. An interview will be organised once the enrolment application is received. If your friends have a child commencing in Year 7 next year, please encourage them to consider Trinity as an option for their child’s education. There is provision for an online enrolment which can be accessed through our College website using the following address: https://www.trinitycollege.nsw.edu.au/enrol-online/
As this is my last contribution to Trinity Talk for this term, I would like to thank everyone for their good works. Staff and students have worked incredibly hard and these efforts are very much appreciated. I would also like to commend Mr Evan Rees for the successful Rugby season we have had so far this year. We were not sure what state Rugby would be in following our non-participation in 2020 due to COVID-19. Rugby however has come back bigger, better and stronger. Thank you Mr Rees for your leadership and passion. Thank you to all our parents for their support of Rugby whwther assisting with coaching, managing, the BBQ, working on the Canteen, selling raffle tickets, attending committee meetings, refereeing or being a supportive crowd participant; and the list goes on. Please remember Year 12 in your prayers as they prepare for their final term at Trinity. Take good care over the holidays and as always enjoy the change of routine and stay warm! I look forward to seeing you in Term 3.
Happy weekend and best wishes to our sporting teams!
Yours in faith, strength and unity
Gaye McManus

PRAYER FOR THE PANDEMIC
Lord, Jesus brought healing during his ministry on earth.
Now we need this healing more than ever.
We need not only the healing from physical illness brought on by the Coronavirus, but healing for human hearts.
Inspire us to serve the poor and abandoned.
“This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples;
if you love one another.” (John 13:35)

CAREERS NEWS: PLUMBING TRADE READINESS PROGRAM
"Great course! Good if people want to dip their feet into trades to see if they want to do that as a future course. I enjoyed all of it. A cool quote was “Doctors cure sickness, plumbers prevent it”. Xavier Eagles
"If you want to be in a trade or go to TAFE I’d say do it. Andrew (teacher) talked about every part of TAFE, not just plumbing. I enjoyed it and would do it again. I learnt a variety of things which was great" Jack Sticker
"It was good. I really liked going to TAFE because I learned lots of different things that you don’t learn at school. I liked different stuff and there was lots of practical work." Jack Todd-Tobin
Reports for Years 7 - 10 will be posted to parents over the coming week.

SCHOOL TV: FRIENDSHIP AND BELONGING
This month on SchoolTV - Friendship & Belonging
Learning how to make new friends and keep them involves a number of skills every young person needs to understand and develop. For some these skills will come very naturally, allowing them to easily move between different friendship groups, sharing their experiences and opening up to new people. For others, this can be much harder to navigate. Belonging to a group that is like-minded with similar interests is highly beneficial to a young person’s wellbeing. It gives them a sense of security helping them feel valued which in turn builds their confidence.
Positive friendships are an important part of the journey to adulthood. Adult carers can support their child or teenager by providing guidance in the many social and emotional skills required for a healthy relationship. This will help them to obtain, retain and maintain friendships. However, not all friendship are regarded as positive. Sometimes young people develop negative or toxic friendships. Therefore it is also important for them to learn how to identify, avoid or deal with such a friendship.
In this edition of SchoolTV, adult carers can learn how to support their young person’s friendship so that they experience a sense of belonging. We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this month’s edition, and we always welcome your feedback.
If you do have any concerns about the wellbeing of your child, please contact the school for further information or seek medical or professional help.
