Dear Parents and Carers
REMOTE LEARNING TO CONTINUE
The NSW Government has announced today the decision to continue with the current lockdown in regional NSW. Lockdown will continue until 5pm Saturday 28 August, and hence remote learning will continue at Trinity next week. Please make sure you register via email tomorrow (principal.tccg@cg.catholic.edu.au), if you wish your child to attend remote learning at school next week. We are so appreciative of families keeping their children at home; we realise this comes with its own set of challenges. If you are an essential or authorised worker who is not working at home, please know your child is very welcome at school.
STAFFING UPDATE
Tomorrow, we farewell Mr Anthony O'Connell, Director of Mission and Identity from Trinity Goulburn. Mr O'Connell commenced teaching at Trinity in 2018 in a newly created role which focused on the mission of the Catholic Church in Catholic Education at Trinity Goulburn and the faith formation of students and teachers. He established the Catholic Schools Youth Ministry Team at Trinity and was able to work with the Goulburn Mission in employing Gerard Teng, our Youth Minister. Whilst our Youth Ministry Team was thwarted by COVID last year, this year the team has been able to work in our Catholic primary feeder schools with students who were undertaking the sacraments. They were a huge success. Along with Fr Lolesio, Mr O'Connell also introduced the 'Jesus-Power-Wow' prayer to us. As well, Mr O'Connell was well versed in the art of telling 'Dad' jokes. Thank you Mr O'Connell for sharing your love and understanding of Jesus Christ with us and for being an authentic witness to your faith. Blessings to you.
After a panel selection process, the following appointments are announced:
- Acting HSIE Coordinator until October 2022 when Mrs Jessica Rice returns - Mrs Kathy Peterson (Parlett)
- Acting Mission and Ministry Coordinator until the end of 2021 - Mrs Arlene Dorsett.
Mr Callum Potts has been appointed to an RE teaching position.
Congratulations to Kathy, Arlene and Callum on their respective appointments.
Staffing has been a big challenge this term and it will continue to be a work in progress. There is a nation-wide shortage of teachers and this coupled with COVID restrictions, has made it very challenging to staff the College. Please know we are working to ensure we have the best teachers in place for our students. I wish to acknowledge the commitment and dedication of the Trinity Goulburn staff. We are very blessed to be working with such dynamic, enthusiastic and brilliant educators.
Take care, keep safe and stay well.
Yours in faith, strength and unity
Gaye McManus
Principal
Just a few little reminders....
- ALL students have moved to remote learning at home and at school. Students who return to the College will be participating in remote learning only.
- Students and staff must wear masks indoors and outdoors except when eating.
- We require three (3) days notice for children of essential workers to attend the College - this will assist us with staffing and supervision planning.
- The Canteen and Uniform Shop are not open during this lockdown.
- Students must bring their own food and drink to school each day.
- Thank you for working with the College at this difficult time!
- Please stay safe, well and at home! :)
If students are displaying flu-like symptoms at school, parents will be required to collect their child from school and have a COVID test. If students are unwell, they must remain at home. Please continue to inform the school via phone if your child tests positive for COVID.
Qkr! is a handy app that allows you order and pay for uniforms, canteen orders and some excursions. A guide on how to install the app is below. You will need your family code to set your profile up. Please contact the office if you require any assistance.

A reminder that year 10 Work Experience is during Week 9 of Term 4 unless special approval has been signed off by Mrs Dillon for an alternative date.
In order to undertake work experience students MUST:
- Have had the 'self-sourced workplace learning' form signed off and returned to school (after which they receive the next form).
- Have the 'Workplace learning record' form signed off by the employer, the parent, the school and the Catholic education Office where needed - those wanting to undertake high-risk work such as work with animals (Mrs Dillon will send it in these cases). If students are going to the hospital for work experience they may go straight to this form and skip the 'self-sourced workplace learning' form as it is not a self-sourced placement.
- Students then must complete their workplace readiness modules and email Mrs Dillon their certificates of completion at rebecca.dillon@cg.catholic.edu.au
- Students will be given a pack with items such as a letter to the employer, a thank you card to give them, a copy of our liability insurance certificate, an in-case-of-emergency contact card and other necessary paperwork.
We will be working with students at school to prepare them for work experience between now and week 9 of term 4. Any student who has regularly failed to demonstrate appropriate behaviours at school may be denied the privilege of work experience.
Please refer to the work experience manuals distributed to students at school during term 2, or email Mrs Dillon with any questions or concerns.
The College should be notified of any foreseen student leave. An Application for Exemption Form is available from the College Office and is required to be completed by parents/carers and returned to the College at least 10 school days prior to any leave. Leave or travel over 10 days requires a different form; please contact Reception. If, during the period of leave, your child has assessments due they should also complete the Notification of Planned Absence form which is in the appendix of their student assessment handbook.
When your child needs to leave School early, please make sure they complete the following steps:
1. A written note signed from their parent/carer. This note can be made in the Student diary on the day of the planned absence, or on a separate piece of paper.
2. The student then takes the note to Homeroom and asks their Homeroom teachers to sign it.
3. The note must also be signed by a House Coordinator.
4. The student comes to the front office with their signed note.
5. Front office staff assist student to sign out.
6. Students wait for parent/carer to collect them.
Please note, parent or carer MUST present to the Office to collect student.
