Languages Other Than English (LOTE)
Trinity Catholic College offers students the opportunity to learn Italian. The language is taught with a communicative approach focusing on reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Students will also have the opportunity to engage with aspects of Italian culture.
Project Based Learning in Italian ensures that whilst learning the basics of this beautiful, global language steeped in history and culture, students also further develop their collaboration, presentation and team-working skills.
The real-world focus of our language projects enables students to envisage how they might also use their language skills in the future. Many students also find that learning a new language helps them with their understanding of the English language.
The school has a wide range of resources for the teaching of Italian including:
- A well equipped learning centre
- An IT room with Italian software and internet access
- A wide range of educational resources
- A partnership with other students studying Italian in schools through the Archdiocese
